About Manresa
Manresa Jesuit Retreat House is a house of prayer and reflection in the spirit of St. Ignatius of Loyola who made his own long retreat at Manresa, Spain in 1522. From his experience at Manresa, he developed a strategy to help us encounter the God Who loves us and wants to share His life with us forever.
Following you, my Lord, I cannot get lost.”
— St. Ignatus of Loyola
Throughout his life, St. Ignatius considered himself a pilgrim and frequently prayed: “Following you, my Lord, I cannot get lost.” Manresa is holy ground where in silence you, too, can renew and deepen your relationship with God, thanking God for the ways He cares for you and loves you through your life journey.
What we offer
Manresa offers group and individually directed retreats that rely on The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius to lead retreatants to deepen their relationship with Christ and one another. In addition to the retreats, we offer educational programs, support and discussion groups, days of prayer and reflection, prayer experiences and the Internship in Spiritual Companionship – all designed to inform and nurture your faith journey.
You are invited to join the Manresa community each weekday, Monday to Friday, for Mass in our main chapel at 8:00 AM. We remember all deceased retreatants on the last Friday of the month. On Tuesdays, you may stay for 30 minutes of private Christian meditation following the Mass.
The grounds
The retreat house rests on 39 partly wooded acres along the Rouge River, with 15 outdoor Stations of the Cross, a prayer labyrinth and other areas of reflection where you will find rest for your soul.
Easily accessible and conveniently located 16 miles north of Detroit, Manresa is also available for faith-based groups to host their own retreats and days of reflection.
All are welcome to celebrate Eucharistic liturgy in our main chapel weekdays at 8:00 AM, unless the House is closed during our summer or holiday breaks.
