SPAIN, 2008, a personalized stamp honoring the centenary of the birth of Fr. Tomás Morales, SJ

October 30, 2008 marked the centenary of the birth of Fr. Tomás Morales, SJ, in Macuto, Venezuela. After studying at the Jesuit school, Nuestra Señora del Recuerdo, in Madrid and studying law in Madrid and Bologna, he entered the Jesuits in 1932 and was ordained in1941. He was a pioneer and dedicated apostle in the formation of the laity. He founded the secular institutes Cruzados de Santa María for men (1955) and Cruzadas de Santa María for women (1965), and from this nucleus grew the La Familia de Santa María a complex of organizations including the Milicia de Santa María for youth.
