LITHUANIA, 1995, special cancel for the 4th centenary of his birthSarbiewski, the Horace of Poland, entered the Society of Jesus at Vilna in 1612. He did his studies there and at Braniewo, taught at Polotsk and Vilna, worked for Pope Urban VIII revising the hymns of the Roman Breviary. He became court preacher to King Władysław IV. He is one of the most outstanding Polish poets of the Baroque era and a writer about poetry as well. In 1623 he was crowned as poet laureate by Pope Urban VIII. More
